an animal or a tree: Ulysses’ mates become swines, Daphne, a laurel tree, Pier Della Vigna, a thorny bush, Gregor Samsa, a giant vermin.

I represent human beings who are appropriated, incorporated, or “used” by a humble natural object, such as a fern, grasses or a contorted

tree. Both humans and plants appear unaware of what is happening. We cannot even tell what creature, if any, will emerge from their fusion.

The process shown here is, therefore, the carrier of ambivalent meanings and uncertain outcomes.
